Angus Buchan was originally a Zambian maize and cattle farmer of Scottish descent[1] who started farming in Zambia but was forced to sell everything and move to Greytown, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa in 1978 due to political unrest in that country.
In 1980 he started the Shalom Ministries to preach in his local community. Over time he has become a full time evangelist while the farm is now being run mostly by both his sons.
In 1998 Angus wrote a book about his life, Faith Like Potatoes, the book was turned into a film of the same title in 2006.

In 1980 Angus and Jill started Shalom Ministries.[2] The main purpose of the ministry is to go out and preach in South Africa and Africa.
Beth-Hatlaim (House of the Lambs), is a children's home for 25 orphaned and abandoned children.
Halalisani Farm School is a Christian farm school also administered by Shalom Ministries with approximately 200 pupils.[3]
The Mighty Men Conference, organised by Shalom trust, is a Christian gathering of men. In recent years the number of men has grown from a few hundred to over 200,000 in April 2009[4][5]
Angus presents a 30 minute religious show, Grassroots on e-tv, at 8:00am mostly filmed from his own farm.[2][6]
He is also a full time evangelist going around South Africa and Africa drawing very large crowds.[7]
